Dear Singer

We are sending this to you as you have previously sung with the South Cotswold Big Sing Group.

The next concert to be put on by the South Cotswold Big Sing Group will consist of the choral version of the Brahms Academic Festival Overture, Bruckner's Te Deum and Das klagende Lied by Mahler. The choir will be accompanied by the British Sinfonietta and conducted by Adrian Partington with 8 soloists. This will take place in Tewkesbury Abbey on 4th July 2026.

Interestingly there are two versions of the Mahler dating from 1893 and 1899 and we will be performing the 1893 version which Adrian Partington thinks may be the first UK performance of this version. It was performed by Pierre Boulez and the Cleveland Orchestra in 1974 and we are borrowing the parts from them.

To introduce singers to these works we are putting on a Workshop at The Crypt School, Gloucester on 11th April and we very much hope that you will join us.
